Welcome to Secure the Call
It's
estimated that in the United States there are over 45 million old
cell phones
sitting in drawers and closets. These old cell phones could help tens of thousands
of our citizens feel safe and secure by converting them into 911 emergency-use
cell phones and given away for free to those in need.
Any
phone that can be turned on can be used to call 911. It's always a free call and
will connect you to the nearest local emergency operator. If you have a cell phone,
you're always close to getting help. But if you don't have a phone, you could
be in trouble.
That's
where Secure the Call comes in. We're a non-profit coalition
of over 30 organizations
in the D.C. Metro-Baltimore area, including Police and Sheriff's Departments,
Battered Women's Shelters, Neighborhood Watch Groups and Senior Citizen Centers.
We take your donated phone and convert it into a 911 emergency only phone and
give it back to our coalition partners for distribution. If you have a need
for
a
911 phone, we'll work to get you one.
We need your old phones to make this program a success. We have hundreds of collection boxes throughout the Metropolitan area or you can send the phone to us via the Post Office or any delivery company. Thanks to you, the program works. |
