About Secure the Call

Secure the Call is a non-profit organization with a single mission. To help the local community collect and convert as many old cell phones as possible into 911 emergency cell phones as possible.

Almost every law enforcement agency, domestic violence department, and senior citizen center in the Metropolitan area collects and redistributes old cell phones to those in need. But the problem for every organization is the same. You can't simply hand out a phone that was just turned in. Work has to be done before the phone is ready to be used as a 911-emergency only phone. It has to be tested, cleaned, cleared of all old numbers, programmed for 911, retested and then prepared for distribution. All of this takes time and money. Something most organizations are in short supply of.

That's where Secure the Call comes in. We're the guys who do all the work. When we get in your phone, we inspect it and decide what to do with it. Some phones are used for the program, some phones are sent to a recycler (for proper disposal) and some phones are sold to raise money to run Secure the Call. As many phones as possible are put back into the program.

We do the all the work including collecting the old phones so the organizations we work with don't have to. And best of all – its free to them and free to you. Your donations keep us running.

You can help us by donating your old cell phone. If you work in an office, we can arrange for your office to receive one of our collection boxes. We also need volunteers to help us with our program. We need drivers to pick up and deliver the collection boxes and laborers to help us convert the old phones into 911-emergency only cell phones. If you have the time, we would appreciate your help.
